Mary Elizabeth (Hart) Griffin, New Hampshire State Representative, 96, of Windham, NH, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Windham Terrace. She was born on May 16, 1926, in Lynn, MA, to the late John and Florence (Burchill) Hart.

Mary was always very active in her community and loved helping people. She was a New Hampshire State Representative for over 20 years and was the oldest living legislator in the United States. She was known for her impeccable attendance record and willingness to help thy neighbor. She was involved in many benefits and community events. She was a Director for the Senior Miss America Pageant, volunteered for local elections, and was a member of the Windham Cable Television Network.

Mary loved to play bingo and was a Gold Medal Tap Dancer. She worked on her family's farm for many years, which is the new site of Griffin Park in Windham. She was known for treating the local kids to an ice cream at the farm stand whenever she could.

In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband of many years: Andrew J. Griffin; her brothers: John Hart and William Hart; her sisters: Frances Wilson, and Ann Wosiak; and her niece Beth Hart.

Mary is survived by: her brother: Daniel Hart and his wife Barbara, of Boise, Idaho; her niece: Anne Marie Edwards, of Lynn, MA; and her friend: Patricia A. Randazzo, of Windham, NH.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 9-11 AM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd., Windham, NH 03087. Interment will follow at Cemetery of the Hill, Windham, NH.
