Lillian C. (Chalifour) Proulx 92, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully at the Salem Haven Nursing Home on December 28, 2021.

She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on April 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Dehlia and Henri Chalifour. She attended schools in Lawrence and Salem Massachusetts until leaving for work at the Textile Mills to help support her family after her father's early demise from a roofing accident. Upon returning to Lawrence, she met the love of her life Normand while he was on leave from the Navy. Soon after, they were married.  She was a long-time resident of Lawrence until retiring in Salem, NH with her husband Normand.  She eventually moved to her daughter Michele and Doug's home in Salem.

Lillian raised her 5 children while also working several jobs in retail including My Lady Shoppe, Casual Corner and JC Penny. Lillian was noted for her love of coordinating outfits for professional woman many of whom travelled for long distances to utilize her services.  After retirement Lillian and Normand both worked at Ziggy's Restaurant in Salem NH with their daughter and son.  Lillian also volunteered services at St. Joseph's in Salem NH and Salem Caregivers where she happily accepted her award for volunteer of the year. Lillian's spent hours in her garden and feeding the birds. Lillian's favorite vacation spot was Ogunquit ME and Salem Willows in Salem MA.  Lillian loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who frequently visited her home.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Normand Proulx, her father Henri Chalifour, her mother Marie Paquin, her stepfather Edgar Paquin, both her Sister Pauline and her husband Richard and her sister-in-law Rita Chalifour. Most recently she was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Amanda.

She is survived by her brother Henry Chalifour and wife Celine, her daughter, Patricia Rickard and husband Paul Flynn of Litchfield NH, her son Denis Proulx and wife Beverly of Freedom, NH, her Daughter Diane MacArthur and husband Scott of Townsend MA, Her daughter Michele Martino and husband Doug of Salem and her son Stephen and wife Laurie of Salem. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 33 Greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Carrier Family Funeral Home 38 Range Rd, Windham NH on Sunday January 2 ^nd 11am -2PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Salem NH at 10AM on Monday January 3rd. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
