Obituary

William W. Macy, 85, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 19, 2025, following a nearly year long battle with stage 4 prostate cancer.

William "Bill" was born on March 20, 1939, in Cambridge, MA to the late Burt A. Macy and Doris G. (Miller) Macy.

Bill grew up in Melrose, MA, where he enjoyed playing sports both in and outside of High School, including hockey, football, and baseball. Bill and his siblings, as well as his wife and children enjoyed spending many summers at his parents' summer (and later full-time) home in Freedom, NH, where he was an avid trout fisherman. Bill was a veteran, having served proudly in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he met and married the love of his life, Faye E. (Dame) Macy, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Bill then started his 47-year career at New England Telephone, as an Equipment Installer. Bill was a former President and active member of the New England Telephone Pioneers, in which he volunteered in many community and charitable endeavors.

Bill and Faye started their family in Beverly, MA, before moving to their home in Salem, NH to raise their children, Bryan and Jennifer.

Bill (Coach to his boys) was actively involved in coaching youth ice hockey starting in Lawrence, MA, later coaching in Salem, NH. He truly loved all of his boys that played for him and enjoyed every minute spent with them win or lose.

Bill was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher R. Macy.

Bill leaves behind his son Bryan and his wife Debby, their children Elissa (Jeremy), Shauna (Brett), and Jenna-Rae, his daughter Jennifer and her husband Mike Scuderi, their children, Mike Jr. (Polly), and Bethany, five great-grandchildren, Grace, Kristopher, Benjamin, Jack, and Holland. Bill also leaves behind his brother, Richard and wife Ruth Ann; sisters, Margie Ring and Susan Lamb; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time.
