William "Bill"
Connor
Dec 23, 1935 — Sep 4, 2024
William E. "Bill" Connor, known affectionately as Boop, 88, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Windham, NH, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Melrose, MA on December 23, 1935, he was the only child of the late Edward and Marie (Anderberg) Connor. Bill was raised in Lynn and spent his formative years working at his father's gas station, where the value of hard work was instilled upon him. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and spent time serving in Korea. Following his tenure in the Army, he would go on to become a mechanic at Hood Milk. He would later work as a custodian at Essex Agricultural School.
As a long-time resident of Lynn, Bill was an enthusiastic golfer and spent countless hours on the greens as a member of the Gannon Golf Course. In his retirement, he enjoyed the fairways as a member of the Eastwood Golf Course, of Ft. Myers, FL. He was fortunate to share many golf adventures with his beloved wife, Janet, exploring courses across the country. Bill's passions extended beyond golf; he was an avid fly-fisherman, enjoyed swimming, and loved playing cribbage and bridge. When there was not a golf club in his hands, you could find Bill on the edge of his seat in front of the television watching a game of baseball or with a book in his hand. He was a nightly watcher of Jeopardy!, which helped to keep his mind young. His warmth, kindness, and playful spirit will be deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife: Janet (Trahant) Connor), of Ft. Myers, FL; his children, William E. Connor, Jr., and his wife Dawn, of Salem, MA, and Edward Connor, and his wife Patricia, of Danvers, MA; his step-daughter: Kelly Esposito, and her husband Michael, of Windham, NH; his grandchildren: Chris, Daniel, Rylee, Carson, Michael, and Paige; as well as several great-grandchildren.
