William P. “Bill” Buckley, 79, of Atkinson, New Hampshire, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on June 8, 1947, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late William and Rita (Rajotte) Buckley.
Bill answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, he rose to the rank of Captain and earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Star Medals.
Following his military service, Bill spent the majority of his career in sales with AT&T, retiring at the age of 55.
If you ever needed to find Bill, the golf course would be the first place you’d look. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, especially at Breakfast Hill and in Hilton Head. Bill and his wife, Maureen, also enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, where they escaped the cold and spent time with many of their friends. A recent highlight was an amazing trip to Alaska with Maureen and close friends. Above all, Bill treasured the time he spent with his family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maureen (McColley) Buckley of Atkinson; their sons, Patrick Buckley and his wife, Shannon, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and David Buckley and his wife, Robyn, of Danville, New Hampshire; his brother, Kevin Buckley; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Brian Buckley.
