William L.
"Bill" Horton Iii
Aug 10, 1946 — Jan 20, 2023
Windham
William (Bill) L. Horton III, 76, of Windham, NH, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on January 20, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1946, to the late William Jr. and Edith (Schweppenheiser) Horton, in Burlington, NJ. Bill was a proud graduate of Bordentown Military Institute, in Bordentown, NJ. He and his wife, Susan, spent time living in both New Jersey and New York, before settling down in New Hampshire.
It was in Southern New Hampshire where Bill put his love of model trains, planes, toys, and hobbies into his work. From 1994 to 2011, Bill was the owner and operator of Treasured Toys, in Salem, NH where he worked side by side with his wife Susan, his daughter Hollie, and his granddaughter Sidney. After the closing of Treasured Toys, Bill moved on to specialize in radio-controlled toys, opening the ABC RC & Hobbies store, of Windham, NH in 2011, which is still in operation and co-owned by the Horton family. Bill will always be remembered by all who knew him as an honest and generous man, with a great sense of humor and his distinctive laugh. He never had a problem saying what was on his mind and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Susan Chunko Horton; their children: Patricia L. Horton, of Washington State, Heather P. Horton, and her husband Anthony Foley, of New Hampshire, and Hollie L. Horton, and her partner Ross O'Connor, of New Hampshire; his grandchildren: Kyle E. Horton, and her significant other Pelle Hamburger, of Brooklyn, New York, Sidney Horton, and her significant other Pietro O'Rourke, of Detroit, MI; his siblings: John Horton, of New Jersey, and Liane Horton, of Florida; his longtime family friend: James Martley, of New Hampshire; and his lifetime childhood friend: Roy Glenn, of New Jersey.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held in the Spring of 2023, with a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the Horton Family asks that you simply "Do Something Nice, for Someone You Love", in honor of Bill.
