Thomas Paul Fitzgerald, 81, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, while surrounded by his family. He was born in Boston on March 10, 1944, to the late John and Ruth Allwood Fitzgerald.

Thomas was raised in Charlestown, MA, where he attended local schools  and met his future wife, Joanne Poole. The high school sweethearts married in September of 1965.  Through the years they resided in many homes from Medford, Melrose and Reading, where together they raised their three girls.

Thomas served in the Army National Guard and worked as a master electrician for Polaroid for many years, and later with Gillette prior to his retirement in 2008. In his free time, he enjoyed working side jobs, fixing and renovating homes, fishing and baseball games.  He loved taking his girls to experience Fenway Park on opening days, Bruins games and ice skating and sledding at Mount Hood.  Thomas lovingly referred to his three girls as his "three bags of gold". He was also determined to teach his girls all that they needed to know while growing up, including tasks like driving,  opening and closing the pool, and mowing the lawn.

All who knew Thomas will remember his quiet gentle nature, a true "old fashioned soul".  He was a family man to his core, and most enjoyed raising his girls and watching his grandchildren grow.

In addition to his adoring wife of 58 years, Joanne, Thomas leaves behind his daughters, Sherry Chiara and her husband Frank of Tewksbury, MA, Dawn Longo and her husband Ron of Derry, NH, and Shannon Height and her husband Michael of Derry, NH; his grandchildren, Frankie Chiara and his wife Ashley, Kevin Chiara, Stephanie Longo, Emily Longo, Cassandra Panameño and her husband Andrew, Thomas Height, and Nikki Height; his great-grandchildren, Frankie Chiara and Camila Chiara; his siblings, Judy DiMaggio, Maureen Golden, Richard Fitzgerald, and Jane Fitzgerald; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended members of the family.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his brother, John Fitzgerald, and his sister, Kathy Duncan.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 4-7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow, beginning at 7pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home.
