Beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather
Thomas L. Battaglia, a resident of the town of Hampstead, N.H. for more than 25 years and formerly of Methuen and Lawrence, MA. Born in Malden, Massachusetts to the late Marrietta (Toscano) Battaglia and the late Francesco Battaglia of Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was the brother of the late Josephine Sorracchi and the late John O. Battaglia.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949 and Northeastern University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1975. He served three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Tom married the love of his life, Beverly Renihan, in 1962 after meeting her in 1958 at the Commodore Ballroom in Lowell, MA. They went on to live in Lawrence, MA and Methuen, MA before settling in Hampstead, NH in their retirement.
Tom and his wife had four children. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev, of Hampstead, N.H. He is also survived by his daughter Laura and her husband, Steve Marsan, of Salem, N.H., Cheryl Grassi and her husband, Joe, of Windham, N.H. and James Battaglia and his wife, Michele, of Derry, NH. Tom is also survived by his grandchildren Stefanie, Joe, Tommy, Michael, Sarah and James as well as his great-grandchildren, Miranda and Wesley. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved son, Thomas L. Battaglia, Jr., in 1983 as well as his grandson, baby Joseph Grassi, III.
Tom was employed in the defense industry for most of his life retiring from Textron Defense Systems after 28 years. Upon his retirement, he volunteered for many years with the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley and Elder Services of Merrimack Valley. He was a member of Toastmasters International for many years as well as a former president.
Tom was a long-time communicant of St. Anne’s Church in Hampstead, N.H. He was a Third-Degree member of the Knights of the Columbus and past Grand Knight of Council 9058 in Hampstead. Tom was also a Fourth-Degree member of the Bishop Peterson Assembly Knights of Columbus of Salem, N.H. He volunteered at the St. Anne’s food pantry for many years.
Tom enjoyed taking his children camping in the White Mountains and on trips to Hampton Beach. He loved traveling with his wife to many countries in Europe as well as across the United States. He was an avid reader and painter. Tom enjoyed cooking and spending summers in York Beach, Maine. He loved spending time with his family, sharing Sunday dinners and holidays. Tom was an avid fan of the New England Patriots.
Beyond his accomplishments and dedication to serving his community, Tom instilled a lifetime of lessons, love and memories that will live through his family always. His greatest joy was his family.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4-7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will then follow on Saturday, October 3, 2026, beginning at 10am, at St. Anne's Parish, 26 Emerson Ave, Hampstead, NH 03841. Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
