Steven J. Kurek, 62 of Salem, NH, passed away Monday morning at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, following complications from surgery.
Steve was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Alfred Kurek and Mary Uzalinski. He was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA, attending Holy Trinity School and graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1979 where he starred in football and baseball. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Merrimack College. Steve was a resident of Salem, NH for the past 31 years, formerly of Derry, NH.
Steve worked in the Food Industry his entire professional career and was most recently General Manager/VP for North America at the Friedr Dick Company. He was a member of St. Matthew's Parish in Windham, NH, Knights of Columbus in Salem and a member of the Merrimack Valley Golf Club in Methuen.
Steve was generous and gave his time to the Board of Directors for the Greater Salem, NH Boy's & Girl's Club, Central Catholic High School and The Lazarus House Ministries. He was also very active for political campaigns supporting Chuck Morse. He loved golfing at Merrimack Golf Course, working out at Drive Custom Fit in Salem, and family vacations to Aruba and Loon Mountain. He found a true passion doing yard work and making his home beautiful. The highlight of his life was spending time with his family and friends.
Steve was predeceased by his parents and brother Richard Kurek.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Lou.
Children: Justin Kurek and his girlfriend Alexandra Helleberg of Charlestown, MA and Katie and her husband Chris Hughes of No. Andover, MA.'

His pride and joy granddaughter Mia Ross Hughes, Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 27th from 4-7 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 28th at 11 AM at St. Matthews Parish, Windham, NH.
