Sister Patricia Sullivan 81, a Sister of Mercy for 63 years, died in Windham, NH, on May 16, 2023.  Sister Patricia was born in Manchester, the daughter of the late John, Jr. and Lorraine (Mooney) Sullivan.

Sister Pat graduated from Mt. St. Mary College and St. Anselm College.  She held a M.S. degree in nursing from Boston University and a ScD degree from Harvard University.

In her earlier years, she taught school in Manchester and Nashua, and was a staff nurse in the former Sacred Heart Hospital. She held faculty positions as an instructor and assistant professor in the graduate nursing programs at Boston University, St. Xavier College in Chicago, and the University of Maryland.  In addition, Sister Pat was the coordinator of public policy for the seven southern states and Belize ministries of the St. Louis Sisters of Mercy Health Care System.

From 1994 to 2002 she was President of the New Hampshire Sisters of Mercy and from 2010 to 2015 served on the Northeast Community Leadership Team. During her time as NH president, she was instrumental in establishing the Warde Health Center and McAuley Commons, low-income housing for the elderly. Sister Pat had also been Director of NH Catholic Charities, Director of Mission at St. Andre Health Care in Biddeford, Maine, and a co-author of a book on leadership.

Sister Pat was a multi-talented woman who shared her gifts through many services in her professional and volunteer ministries.

Sister Pat is survived by the members of her Mercy Community and her brother Edward and his wife, Linda; her sisters Margaret Chiasson; Mary and her husband Philip Nickson; Joan Flurey; Eileen Sullivan, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Sullivan, and their families.  She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Christopher and John; and her sisters Kathleen Sullivan, Lorraine Errigo, brothers-in-law Peter Chiasson and Rene Flurey, and her niece Karen Zych.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on at the Warde Senior Living in Windham, NH on May 30, 2023 at 11:00 am.

Sister Pat made an anatomical gift to Harvard Medical School for the purposes of education and research.
