Sister Elizabeth Scadova, 96, a Sister of Mercy for 77 years, died March 5, 2026. Liz, or Betty, as she was known to family, was born in Altona, NY, one of 11 children of John and Evelyn (Lagoy) Scadova, and grew up in Keene, NH.  She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Norman, John, Francis, Gerald, and Merton Scadova, Isabelle Rennock, Juanita Welch, Gloria Curtis, and Ramona Pettit.  She is survived by her brother, Donald and many nieces and nephews.

Liz graduated from Mt St Mary College (BA), Keene State College (MA, English) and Emmanual College (MA in Religious Ed) and taught in elementary schools in Claremont, Manchester, Nashua, Keene, and Laconia as well as at Bishop Brady and Trinity High Schools. She later taught Christian Life Center courses to adults in Hanover, Lebanon, Nashua, and Manchester from 1971 to 1989.  Beginning in 1994, Liz had a rewarding Ministry teaching English and Citizenship to immigrants in Manchester and Nashua and continued in this work until 2018.

Liz participated in the justice work of the community, including committee work, advocacy and as part of the organizing of the WISH (Women in Search of Hope) Center in Manchester. She was close to her Scadova family and was supportive of them.  Liz stayed up-to-date all her life, read voraciously, and kept in touch with many.

Friends may call at Warde Senior Living, 21 Searles Road, Windham, New Hampshire on Friday, March 13, 2026. from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, New Hampshire.
