Shawn Colin Danahy, Sr, 67, of Methuen, MA, passed away unexpectedly on December 24th, 2023.
He was born on July 28, 1956, to Frances (Guilmette) and James "Skippy" Danahy. Shawn was raised in Methuen, attended local schools, and went on to attend Lawrence vocational school for carpentry. He spent a number of years working as a steeplejack. He married the love of his life, Faith Marie O'Connor on March 4, 1988, and the couple raised their family in Methuen. Shawn began his career with the Methuen Fire Department in 1990, where he worked for 31 years, until his retirement.
Shawn was a family man, who loved going on trips to Salisbury Beach and South Carolina. Ireland holds a special place in his heart, as he has traveled there with his love bird and family many times. He enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, and riding his fire fighter's special edition motorcycle. Shawn had a special place in his heart for his family pets.
Shawn was larger than life itself. A gentle, humble, compassionate soul who had so much strength in every aspect of his being.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faith Danahy; his children, Cassie Ouellette and her husband Nick Ouellette of Essex, MA, Shawn C. Danahy Jr. and his fiancé, Shailyn Harrington of Amesbury, MA, and Kelli Danahy of Amesbury, MA; his grandchildren, Cade and Kai Ouellette; his brothers, James Danahy Jr. and his wife Robin Russell, Shane Danahy Sr, Kyle Danahy and his wife April; his sisters, Dawn Giarusso and her husband Bill, Maureen Genakos and her husband Jack, and Frances LeSaffre and her husband, Chris; his nephew that was like another son, Shane Danahy Jr; many nieces, nephews, cousins; his in-laws that he was especially close with; as well as his beloved dog, Finnegan. All of his nieces and nephews claimed to be "his favorite." He was so loved and will be missed by so many.
