Sandra "Sandy" Whitcomb Dufour

Sandra "Sandy" Whitcomb Dufour, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, in Derry, New Hampshire, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years old.

Sandy was born on November 22, 1948, in the Village of North Hornell, in upstate New York, the first daughter of Mildred and Carl Maxson. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Connecticut, where her younger brother, Rod, and sister, Kim, were born. The Maxson family eventually settled on Long Island, New York, where Sandy spent much of her childhood and young adult years.

At just 19 years old, Sandy married her sailor pen pal, Dan Crowley, beginning an adventure that would take her and her growing family to many places during his years in the Navy. Together, they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Traci Ann and Jodi Lynn.

In the mid-1970s, Sandy and Dan divorced but she chose to make New Hampshire her permanent home. There, she raised her daughters, built a home, created lasting friendships and became part of a community that would remain deeply important to her for the rest of her life.

In the late 1980s, Sandy met Andy Dufour, and the two found a special happiness together. Their relationship was filled with love, laughter, friendship, and companionship. They finally married in 2001.

Family was truly everything to Sandy- her entire world.

Her husband, daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and cousins were truly her greatest joy and the most important people in her life. The love she had for them was immeasurable, and she was truly happiest when with them.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Andy Dufour; her daughter, Jodi Hall, husband Brian, grandchildren Emma and Maxson; her sister Kim Doran, husband Michael, her nieces Madison and Stacey; her brother Rod Maxson and wife Sybil; Andy’s daughters Karen and Judy.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Traci Ann Crowley.

Sandy will be remembered for the joy she carried with her every day. She had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. Sandy was warm, spunky, funny and full of life. Please keep her laughter and smile in your memories forever!
