Samuel S. Kershaw, 92, of Derry, NH, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Haverhill Crossings, in Haverhill, MA. He was born on June 29, 1931, to the late Samuel and Mary (Holgate) Kershaw, in Providence, RI.
Samuel was a resident of Salem, NH for over 22 years, before moving with his wife to Derry in 1979 to start the family business. He served his country in the United States Army before working for the telephone company for many years. Samuel was also the owner of the Robert Frost Motel, formally the Mecca Grove Motel.
Years ago, Samuel purchased his family's vacation house in Ossipee, NH. It had become a home where he was able to watch his grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren grow up. Samuel was an original and current member of the Salem Athletic Club, where he found a second family. In his spare time, Samuel enjoyed watching his favorite Boston Sports Teams.
Samuel is survived by his children: Scott Kershaw, and his wife Julie of Port Charlotte, FL, and Peter Kershaw, of Derry; his grandchildren: Adam Kershaw and his wife Jessica, Nicholas Kershaw, Christopher Kershaw and his wife Melissa, Kaycee Bernardo and her husband Kyle, and Sean Kershaw; as well as his great-grandchildren: Lily, Samuel, Nora, Sophie, Charlotte, Harrison, and Wrenley.
In addition to his parents, Samuel is predeceased by his loving wife: Mary (Donegan); their son: Matthew Kershaw; as well as his siblings: James, Edith, Lily, Janet, Barbara, Ruth, and May.
Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours for Samuel on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 4-7 PM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH, a mercy meal to follow at Fody's Tavern, 187 Rockingham Road, Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund.
