Obituary

Salvatore Patrick Abbadessa, 91 of Salem, NH passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, with his family by his side.  Sal was born March 17, 1932, to Antonio and Irma Abbadessa. Salvatore was raised in Somerville, MA and attended the local school.  At the age of 18, Sal wanted to fight for his country, enlisted into the United States Air Force, and was a proud veteran.

In 1958 Sal started with Napa Distribution Center in the Customer Service Department and retired after 37 years, in 1995.

In his early years, Sal was a long-time member of Cambridge YMCA and received awards for competing in handball which was his favorite sport.

Sal enjoyed golfing, watching the Patriots, and other Boston sports teams. He also loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Sal was known for writing poems for his own enjoyment as well as writing for his family and friends.

Sal had a passion for the Greater Salem Boys and Girls Club and had volunteered in the past for the club's yearly Auction.

Sal is survived by his longtime significant other, Catherine Arsenault of Salem NH, his brother Joseph Abbadessa and wife Susan of Plymouth MA, his nephew Christopher Abbadessa of Somerset NJ, his stepchildren Denise LaGrasse of Stoneham MA, Michele Leveque and husband Mark of Hudson NH and Crystal Yazbek of Salem NH and Grandchildren Amanda, Frederick, Alisha, Brandon, Chayla, Alyvia, and JJ, also several close friends.

In addition to his parents Sal was predeceased by his brother, Victor Abbadessa and stepdaughter, Carol Cella.

A special thank you to the fabulous team of health care professionals at Salem Haven Nursing Home who took wonderful care of Sal for the past 3 years.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 21st, from 2pm to 4pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 4pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Girls and Boys Girls Club of Greater Salem, 3 Geremonty Dr. Salem NH 03079
