Rose E. Chrissis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Elvira Chrissis, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born on July 25, 1928, Rose lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to her family.

Rose was the beloved wife of James William Chrissis, who passed away in 2022. Together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, hard work, and family. They enjoyed traveling the world together, embracing new cuisines and cultures. In 1974, they moved to Windham, where they fulfilled their dream of owning a restaurant, operating Bella Vista Beach Club on Cobbett’s Pond for many years.

Professionally, Rose worked as a warehouse distribution manager for Empire Clothing Company. In retirement, she generously volunteered at the Windham Co-op Kindergarten and Golden Brook School, where she lovingly helped students and teachers.

Rose’s kitchen was the heart of her home and the center of endless family memories. She enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved, and there was always a warm welcome waiting for anyone who sat at her table. Rose passed down treasured family traditions by teaching her grandchildren how to make homemade pasta, meatballs, Sunday sauce, and Italian cookies.

Above all else, Rose treasured her family. She was lovingly known as Nonna, not only to her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also to many others who were blessed by her warmth and affection.

Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Nikitas of Windham, and their children Andrew, Matthew, and Alexis; her sons, James Chrissis Jr. and his wife Debra, and their children James III and Nichole; Jeffrey and his wife Cynthia, and their children Nicholas and Alexandra; and Byron and his wife Lynn, and their children Cara and Camron. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Nico and Mack, Colton, and Zoey, with two more great-grandchildren expected later this year. She also leaves behind her loving nieces, Patricia and Diane, her sister in law Lee Geanopolus, as well as dear friends Heidi and Loretta. She was predeceased by her brother Albert and her sister Vera.

Rose will be remembered for her deep love of family and faith, her compassion for others, and her genuine kindness. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the traditions she shared, and the many lives she touched.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12th, from 9:30am to 10:30am, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11am, at St. Matthew's Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH. Burial will take place at the Cemetery on the Plain in Windham.
