Roger Gagne, 82, longtime resident of Salem, NH, passed away on August 31, 2024, peacefully at home in his own bed, as he wished, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Roger's participation in a cancer treatment trial program at Mass General Hospital in 2023 has already
helped several cancer patients.

Roger was born on April 3, 1942, to the late Gerard and Alma (LaBranche) Gagne at Exeter Hospitalin Exeter, NH. He was raised in Newmarket, NH where he attended St. Mary's School and Newmarket High School. He moved to Salem in 1971 with his wife Frances (Nolan) Gagne and their two daughters, Christine and Colleen. Roger graduated from NH Technical Institute before enlisting in the US Army in 1964. He proudly served as a Military Police Officer, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He worked as a Communications Technician at AT&T in Boston for 35 years. After retirement he worked as a Valet at Exeter Hospital. Roger's greatest joys were his beloved wife of 52 years, Fran, and his three grandchildren: Luke, Audrey, & Elaina Latino. Roger and Fran were their grandchildren's biggest fans, proudly attending every game, performance, school function, and scouting event. He was an avid New England sports fan, a history buff, enjoyed traveling to NH's White Mountains, Weirs Beach, Nova Scotia, Boothbay Harbor, and Las Vegas. In 2017 he visited Alaska with his daughter Colleen and grandson Luke, a longtime bucket list trip for him. He was a member of Saints Mary & Joseph Parish in Salem, American Legion in Newmarket, and of Pelham Fish & Game.

Roger was predeceased by his wife, Frances (Nolan) Gagne.

He is survived by his two daughters: Christine Latino and her husband Joseph, of Atkinson, and Colleen Shelatz and her wife Carrie, of Manchester. Grandchildren Luke, Audrey & Elaina Latino. Brothers Richard Gagne and his wife Rochelle of Somersworth; Raymond Gagne and his wife Cecileof Rochester; and sister, Gloria Hall of Hampton as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 9:30 am, at St. Joseph's Church, 33 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. Family and Friends are invited to meet directly at church on Thursday morning. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery to follow.
