Robert “Bob” Gordon Specht, 89, of Windham, NH passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 3 rd , 2026, at Windham Terrace Assisted Living.
He was born on February 26, 1937, to Olive (Weddleton) and William Specht. Bob was raised in Lynn, Massachusetts and graduated from Saugus High School in 1954. At the age of 17, he began his career with General Electric, in their Apprentice Alumni Program and continued there for the next forty years, until his retirement at the age of 57. Bob was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army with an honorable discharge in 1963.
Bob married the love of his life, Aletha “Lee” (Layton) on September 11, 1965. The couple were active with the First Baptist Church in Wakefield, MA. Bob was also a Master Mason with the William Sutton Lodge in Saugus, MA for many years. The two had a wonderful group of close friends with whom they shared many laughs and memories over the years. They also spent quality time with their beloved grandchildren on many outings. Bob spent many hours on the golf course perfecting his game. He will be remembered as a truly kind, funny, dedicated, and loving man. Bob cared for his wife for years prior to her passing. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed cookouts complete with lobsters, steamers, and cold beer with Neil Diamond music playing on summer days.
Bob is survived by his children, Roxanne Winslow and her husband Brad of Auburn, NH, and Tom Specht of Exeter, NH; his grandchildren, Pamela Storlazzi and her husband Anthony, Ross Davies, and Sydney Specht; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, and Brett; his sister-in-law, Kathy Specht; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Aletha “Lee” Specht; his brothers, Carl Specht and his wife Edna, and Paul Specht and nephew, Matthew Specht.
A Period of Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10th , from 9am to 10am, with a Funeral Service beginning at 10am, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. Burial will follow at the Cemetery on the Plains at 5 Cobbetts Pond Road in Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church at https://www.fbcwakefield.org/give.
