Robert Leo Wilson, lovingly known as Pokey, 66, of Salem, NH, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. He was born on February 16, 1958, in Methuen, MA to the late Leo and Esther (Loader) Wilson.

Pokey grew up in Salem, NH, where he attended local schools before beginning his work career at DeMoulas Market Basket and eventually Digital. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting the beach where he hoped for a sighting of snow owls. Pokey loved his time as Santa Claus in the annual Salem Christmas parade where he arrived by helicopter. This was a responsibility he took very seriously. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, and relaxing with a cup of the German coffee that he loved so much. He will always be remembered for his giant smile, as well as his unending ability to make others laugh. If he got you to blush, all the better.

Pokey leaves behind his siblings, Tom Wilson and his wife Susan, George Wilson and his wife Laurie, and his sister Theresa Stevenson. He also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews as well as his significant other, Gloria Proulx.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 22, from 4pm – 5pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00pm at the funeral home.
