Richard B. "RB" "Dick" Wood, Sr. 79, of Atkinson, NH, passed away on Sunday, November 26th, 2023 at the Exeter Hospital.

RB was born on February 15, 1944, to Margaret Elizabeth (Hines) and Richard George Wood. He was raised in Atkinson, NH and attended local schools. Dick then enlisted and served as an Army Corps Engineer. In the years following his military service, he lived in Hampstead, NH. Dick then moved to Alaska, where he met his beloved wife, Ruth (Harris). The two ran a construction company there for years before moving back to his hometown of Atkinson, NH. Dick worked for the State of NH, plowing throughout the winters. He was truly a jack of all trades and enjoyed working. Above all else, his favorite job was being a farmer. RB had a special place in his heart for the animals and took great pride in caring for them.

Spending most of his life in Atkinson, RB was very involved in the community. He was involved in the Atkinson Lyons Club and was a member of the local VFW. RB would also volunteer to drive a tractor in local parades. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and camping.

RB was a kind and caring man, who was always the first to offer help, but the last to ask for it. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth Wood; his children, Karen A. Wood and Rick Wood Jr. and his wife, Kris; his stepchildren, Barbara Gibeson, Dean A. Ward, Pam K. Landa, and Dwayne L. Thornton; his grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Ann and his brother, John "Jack" Milton Wood.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, from 10am to 12pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12pm. Burial will be held at West Hampstead Cemetery.
