Richard James
Hogan
Aug 20, 1940 — Jul 18, 2025
Salem
Richard (Dick) James Hogan, 84, of Salem, and formerly of Pelham, NH, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, in Portsmouth, NH, surrounded by his family, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1940, in Glens Falls, NY, to the late Thomas F. and Eleanor (O'Donnell) Hogan.
Dick grew up in Hudson Falls, NY and attended Hudson Falls High School and Fordham University in the Bronx. He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy, stationed at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, NY where he worked in the Cardiac Catheter Lab, and on the USS Walworth County. He later became a Quality Assurance Manager at CR Bard.
His Roman Catholic faith was the foundation of his life and shaped the way he lived each day. He was a devoted parishioner who found deep meaning in the traditions of the Church and comfort in prayer. His faith guided his actions, grounded him in times of challenge, and was a steady source of strength and hope throughout his life.
Dick was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from gathering with loved ones around the table. Whether it was a holiday, birthday, or casual Sunday dinner, he believed food brought people together— and anyone and everyone was always welcome. His warmth, humor, and steady presence were the heart of every family celebration, and his legacy lives on in the stories shared over a meal.
In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Susan (Alexander) Hogan, Richard leaves behind his children, Andrew T. Hogan and his wife Debra Hogan of Leicester, VT, and Dennis P. Hogan and wife Susan E. Hogan of Merrimac, MA; grandchildren, Benjamin A. Hogan and his wife Lauren N. Hogan, Christopher T. Hogan, Molly E. Hogan, and Timothy P. Hogan; as well as many friends and members of his extended family.
A period of visitation will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4-7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, beginning at 11AM, at St. Patrick's Church, 12 Main Street, Pelham, NH 03076.
