Rafael Esteban Carrero, 91, of Windham, NH, passed away on July 7, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Rafael was born on December 26, 1932, to Altagracia (Candelario) and Gregorio Carrero. He was raised in the Dominican Republic and went on to become a teacher. Rafael married the love of his life; Mercedes Castillo and the couple moved their family to the United States. Throughout his career, he worked as a laborer, a radio talk show host, and owned his own movie theater. Once his children were grown and married, Rafael went back to school and earned his law degree at the age of 59.

In his spare time, Rafael loved listening to Spanish music from the 30s and 40s as well as reading.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ralph Carrero and Ana of Windham, Evelyn Ruiz and her husband Jesus of Windham, and Lincoln Carrero and his wife Delia of Puerto Rico; his grandchildren: Marcus, Michael, Jennifer, Stephanie, Laura, Christina, Jesenia, Joshua, Jonathan and his great grandchildren as well as his siblings Justina and Gabriel.

In addition to his parents, Rafael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mercedes Castillo de Carrero; and his siblings, Juan, Aris Mendis, Julio, Gregorio, Antonio de Jesus and Reinaldo.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 13th, from 12 to 2pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2pm at the funeral home.
