Prem Kumari Singh of Burlington, Massachusetts passed peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Prem was born in the village of Pakhowal in Punjab, India where she was raised on her grandfather's farm until her family relocated to New Delhi. Later she attended Delhi University and studied history. In 1967, she married Gur Dayal Singh and moved to Seattle, Washington then to Michigan and eventually settled in Massachusetts where she lived for 50 years.

Wherever she went, Prem created a warm community of friends. She was a wonderful homemaker, an exceptional hostess and an entrepreneur. Prem was a trail blazer and founded one of the state's first successful Indian grocery & clothing stores—Taj Groceries—in Burlington.

She will be remembered for her wit, candidness, passion for life and penchant for fun. Throughout the years, Prem never lost her laugh or the sparkle in her eyes. She loved a good party especially when it included a rousing card game of teen patti. She was an excellent Punjabi cook, and many will miss her halwa. Travel, singing, listening to music, and watching old Hindi films were among her interests, but mostly, Prem loved a good chat with her friends and family.

Prem is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gur Dayal Singh, their daughter, Reena Kumari Singh, daughter Anita Kumari Moser and her husband Sunil Richard Moser, son Amar Kumar Singh and his wife Anna Vivian Singh and precious granddaughter, Annika Kumari Moser.

Funeral services for Prem will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 38 Range Road in Windham, New Hampshire. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. The funeral service will be live streamed, and the link will be available above Prem's obituary on the funeral home's website.

In lieu of flowers, the Singh family has set up a memorial fund in Prem's name with the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
