Peter Joseph
Vetri, Sr.
Sep 26, 1955 — Nov 6, 2024
Franklin
Peter Joseph Vetri Sr., of Franklin, NH, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Florida. He was born on September 26, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Peter and Camilla (Perini) Vetri.
He grew up in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn and attended St. Anselm's Grammar School. It was in his youth that he developed his love of baseball. He got a kick out of sharing that it was his mother who taught him how to play. Peter and his family of avid skiers spent most winter weekends at Mt. Snow, VT.
Peter was a student at Cranwell School in Lenox, MA. before attending Boston University in Boston, MA., where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Communications.
Peter valued loyalty and family above all else. He was a true friend and passed his values onto his children. As an avid golfer, Peter and his family enjoyed many summers at the Nashua Country Club. During that time, he spent many years organizing successful golf tournaments at the Windham Country Club and raised significant amounts of money for the Salem Youth Hockey Organization. He believed that every boy or girl who wanted to play hockey should have the opportunity.
Peter was the Senior Advance Man for former Lt. Governor Thomas P O'Neill, III. "PJ was loved by family and friends and all those who ever worked with him," said O'Neill. "He had a rough but loveable veneer, but also had a soft and gentle internal side. He was the best advance man, always doing so much more than the bare requirements. It never mattered if you called him at 3 o'clock in the morning with a crisis or ask that he drive 20 miles to pick up someone. He always did it with a smile. He provided leadership by example and coached those around him with great humor. PJ was more than a staffer; he was my buddy. I loved him and he will be greatly missed."
Upon completion of his work with the Lt. Governor, PJ was the co-founder and operator of Finishield Corporation in Londonderry, NH, with his partner, Roger Jubinville, for 37 years.
In addition to his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathleen (Ross) Vetri, he is survived by the daughter he adored; Mia Ross Landry, and her partner, Matthew Silva, along with their two sons, Ajay Landry and Blake Silva; his sisters Donna Kasic and her husband Jamie of Lecanto, FL ; Pamela Vetri and her partner Mike Sperrazza of Norton MA; Dianna Lindback and her husband Edward of North Easton MA., as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved son, Peter Vetri, Jr.
