Obituary

Paul Pappathan, 71, of Salem, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones, on March 12, 2025, after a lengthy and courageous battle with heart disease.


Born in December 16, 1953, in Methuen MA, Paul was the son of Arthur D. and Janet (Chacos) Pappathan of Salem NH.

Paul was a multifaceted individual whose passions for music, art, and technology left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He is survived by his son, Anthony Pappathan of Bridgewater, MA, his brothers, Chris Pappathan and wife Jeannie of Pelham NH, Arthur "Chip" Pappathan and wife Kathy Wilbur of Derry NH, and Matthew N. Pappathan and wife Melanie Kalliosaai of Keene NH, cousin Deborah Cook, who we've thought of as our sister, of Merrimack, NH, nieces Jessica Pappathan, Cassandra O'Brien, nephew Matthew C. Pappathan and many great nieces and nephews.

Paul's love for music was a cornerstone of his life, having been introduced to various genres from an early age. This passion extended to his involvement in many local and regional rock bands, where he found true joy in performing and connecting with audiences.


An early user of digital graphic arts, Paul embraced emerging technologies with enthusiasm. He was among the first to explore digital art tools, seamlessly blending his artistic vision with cutting-edge computing skills. His innovative approach to digital art set him apart and inspired many others.


While heart disease may have claimed his life, it was Paul's capacity for love and care that truly defined him. His generous spirit and empathy touched many lives, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion that will be remembered by all who knew him.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to "Food for the Hungry" food pantry, Pleasant St. UMC, 8 Pleasant St. Salem, NH 03079, in Paul's memory.


A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Gibson Cemetery, 45 Marsh Road, Pelham, NH 03076.


Paul's caring spirit, artistic talent, and loving nature will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
