Paul Guy Huard was born on January 31, 1947 and was lovingly raised by the late Gertrude and Henry Huard of Manchester NH. He passed on January 23, 2025 after a brief illness.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cared deeply for his family and friends. He loved to go camping, especially his annual trips to Papoose Pond in Maine where he spent countless hours around the campfire. He was a proud season ticket holder for the New England Patriots and loved watching the Red Sox with his wife. He enjoyed golfing with his son-in-laws.

Paul attended Bishop Bradley High School where he graduated in 1965. He studied Education at Keene State College, where he received his Bachelor's degree in 1970 and his Masters in 1978. During his time in college, he was a lover of theater and was responsible for the set design and construction for many plays and concerts. He met his wife Kathy at Keene State and they were married on November 28,1970. They lived in Hillsboro NH for several years, until they made the decision to move and start a family in Salem NH where they resided since 1973 and raised their two daughters, Rebecca and Amy.

He began his teaching career in Salem in 1973 as an English teacher for 33 years until his retirement in 2006. In addition to teaching, he spent his entire career in various coaching and officiating roles including: coaching 3 years of soccer, 6 years of boys basketball, and 4 years of girls basketball; officiating Varsity soccer for 25 years, baseball for 20 years, basketball for 15 years, track for 15 years and volleyball for 10 years.

He supported his students thru advising seven classes over 24 years, as well as 15 years as the National Honor Society advisor and 3 years as the Yearbook advisor. He is most known for being the "Voice of Salem High", announcing basketball and football games for 30 years. He performed in several SHS faculty plays, including the Wizard of Oz as the Tin Man and as Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh. Later he directed countless student plays where he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the Theater Department.

He was recognized for his teaching by receiving the New England English Teachers Association Poetry Award, recognition by the NH Department of Education for his work in developing the Salem High School to Careers program, and was nominated for NH Teacher of the Year in 2001. He was inducted into the SHS Athletic Hall of Fame as a Special Contributor in 2020.

He also supported the Salem community thru his 32 years on the Dollars for Scholars committee and his 11 years on the town Budget Committee.

He is predeceased by his wife Kathy, his brother Robert DesRochers and his sister Agnes Beaulieu. He is survived by his brother Gerry DesRochers, his daughters and their families: Rebecca and Rick Sousa of Millbury MA, and Amy and Jason Dailey of Salem NH. He is the proud Papa to 4 grandchildren- Isabel Sousa, Jack Dailey, Nate Sousa and Michaela Dailey.
