Paul Robert Foster

Paul Robert Foster, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 26th at the age of 88. He was a man defined by his integrity and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada to Harold and Doris Foster, he was a kind man who loved people. From his first job driving the Toyland Train at Eaton’s Department store, to his work as a Wedding Photographer, to his career as a Buyer/Salesman in the scrap metal recycling business, he loved and connected with people.

His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Brenda (Moriarty) Foster. From their first Valentine’s Day date at Ki-Haven in Toronto, together they built a home grounded in love, laughter, and strong values. He was a source of strength for his children; Wendy Neal and her husband Jim, Laurie Hirst and her husband John, Paul Foster Jr and his wife Hillary, and his daughter Susan Foster. He cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren Diana Calvetti, Ryan Neal and his wife Alyssa, Oliver Foster Rassi, and Winn Foster and was predeceased by his grandson Sebastian Foster Rassi.

A family man through and through, he worked hard to provide for his family while, at the same time, making sure he never missed a school concert, performance, or event. He could frequently be seen dancing with his wife in the kitchen to the oldies music he adored, and he enjoyed trout fishing, model trains, and Christmas traditions. He taught his children the songs of every bird and loved taking walks on quiet, snowy nights. With his Super-8 movie camera, he captured the happy life of his family on films that he screened on treasured movie nights.

He will be remembered for his ready laugh, the kindness in his eyes, and the wonderful memories he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed, but his family takes comfort knowing that he is now at peace and that he has been reunited with the loved ones who have gone before. It can be difficult to sum up a man’s life in a word, but for Paul, it is simple: love. It motivated everything he ever did. It’s what he felt for everyone he ever met, had yet to meet, and for every living thing. And, with his love, he has left an impact on the world that cannot be measured. Sometime today, take a moment to listen to Louis Armstrong’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World.” That is what it was like to know Paul.

A visitation will be held on Friday October 2 at 9-10:00 a.m. A service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service at New Plains Cemetery, Windham, NH. Light refreshments will be available after the service at Carrier Funeral Home.
