Obituary

Nina Vita (Williams) Del Vecchio, 86, of Windham, NH, formerly of North Branford, CT, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH.

Nina was born September 23, 1938, to the late Carl and Rose (Maltese) Williams in New Haven, CT. She shared 66 cherished years of marriage to her late husband, Biagio "Bennie" Del Vecchio, before his passing in 2024. They spent many years in North Branford, where they raised their family.

She was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of Saint Augustine Church in North Branford, CT. Nina was also a member and past president of the Saint Augustine Confraternity of the Rosary as well as St. Raphael Hospital's Cast for Laffs.

Nina started her working career in high school as a bookkeeper at the Chas. W. Scranton & Co. investment firm in New Haven. She also worked for many years as a teller for Branford Savings Bank and at Lucy Baltzell clothing store. In addition, she worked side-by-side with her late husband, Biagio, to run the Sterling Oil Company.

A strong daughter of Italian immigrants, Nina cared for her siblings when their parents passed away at a young age. That caring nature made her home a center for her children's friends and extended family throughout her life. In recent years, Nina put her energy into caring for her beloved husband, who passed away in October.

She has resided in Windham for more than 20 years and served as a Board Member at the Hadleigh Woods Condominium Association. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, watching Korean dramas and, most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger days, she was an avid bowler in the Connecticut Women's Bowling League and enjoyed roller-skating.

Nina is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Jian Ai), Christopher (Alison Dutchess) and Dale (Jennifer Patterson), adored Grandma to eight grandchildren, Christopher (Paeton Noel) and Stephanie (Josh Hradil) Del Vecchio of Texas, Rose Del Vecchio of Massachusetts, Benjamin Del Vecchio of Los Angeles, Meghan, Marisa, Madison and Michael Del Vecchio of Massachusetts and Gramma to great-grandchildren Harrison and Harper of Texas. She is also survived by her siblings Carl and Anita as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Nina is predeceased by her sister Margo.
