Nazzarene
Pellegrini
Oct 26, 1933 — Oct 14, 2023
Windham
Nazzarene Pellegrini of Windham NH passed away peacefully at home after a gradual decline in his health, just 12 days shy of his 90th birthday, on October 14, 2023 to join his beloved wife of 64 years who we sorrowfully lost this past summer.
Naz, who was born in San Donata, Italy came over to the US when he was three years old and grew up in Brighton MA. After high school graduation, he joined the Coast Guard and was based in CT. After being honorably discharged, he came home and started a landscaping business where his love of gardening and growing gorgeous lawns became his treasured lifetime hobby. After meeting the love of his life in Dottie, he was married and became a letter carrier in West Roxbury MA with the US post office and raised his family in Dedham MA until retirement. Not one to sit idle, he and Dottie traveled extensively and he also worked in a package store and as a mailroom clerk in a small local college. Eventually he moved to Windham NH to be closer to family and he proudly loved to putter around his house and gardens, was incredibly handy, and was known to creatively fix anything. He was an avid reader and loved classical music, especially opera.
Ned was so proud of his Italian heritage and despite leaving a huge void in our lives with his loss, he also leaves behind cherished old world traditions and innumerable happy memories. He loved to make wine and sausages in the fall and winter, cascellune at Easter, and homemade pasta and sauce every Sunday. His most cherished moments were sitting at the head of his dining room table or in his backyard with a glass of wine in hand, surrounded by family and friends, making everyone laugh with his outrageous comments and sense of fun. He will always be remembered as our fearless leader of the Buca train.
Naz is sadly predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his parents Domenico and Donata, his brother Armando, his two sisters Jo and Antonette and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends all of whom meant so much to him.
He leaves behind his heartbroken family…brother Fred of Venice FL, his brother Donald and his wife Paula Pellegrini of West Roxbury MA, his daughter Cindy Pellegrini of Nashua NH, his daughter Judy and son-in-law John Bucciarelli of Salisbury MA, his son David and daughter-in-law Maureen Pellegrini of Chelmsford MA, and his son Danny Pellegrini of Nashua NH and daughter-in-law Amy Pellegrini of Bedford NH.
Eight precious grandchildren got to call Ned their Noni. He got so much joy out of spending time with Michael, Armando, Chris, Matt, Jack, Tess, Bella and Maxine, regaling them with his wisdom and stories of his youth.
Also dear to his heart were all his nieces and nephews who considered him the patriarch of our family.
Private cremation was handled by Carrier Funeral Home of Windham NH per his wish. A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be planned for the near future.
