Nand Kishore Sharma, age 82, of Salem NH, loving husband, father and grandfather departed this earthly abode on March 27, 2024.

Nand was born in Jaipur, India in 1942. After completing graduate studies structural engineering in India, he moved to the United States in 1966 to pursue his PhD in civil engineering at Cornell University. Upon completion of his degree, he moved to Massachusetts to work at Bell Laboratories in North Andover. After marriage in 1970, he settled in Salem NH, where he lived his entire life with his wife, Indu, raising two sons. Following his retirement from AT&T in 2002 he eventually went back into academics, serving as a professor of civil engineering at several universities in India.

He served both the local and broader Hindu community, in multiple ways, most notably as president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America. Nand was also an avid, life-long New England sports fan who loved to watch and cheer on the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. He always had a calm and composed demeanor and lived his life by the proverb of "high thinking and simple living". He was seen by many as an enlightened soul and was sought for his expertise and in matters of life, spirituality, and science. He was articulate and steadfast in his beliefs but always pleasant.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his spouse Indu Sharma of Salem NH, his sons Raman Sharma of Groton CT and Anoop Sharma of Salem NH, his daughter in laws, Shweta Sharma of Groton CT and Manisha Sharma of Salem NH and two grandchildren Anusha Sharma and Shivaan Sharma.

A Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 1st, beginning at 9am, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A period of visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30am at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
