Mitchell J.
Jankowski
Jan 31, 1946 — Mar 20, 2026
Methuen
Mitchell J. Jankowski, 80, of Methuen, Massachusetts, a devoted father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born on January 31, 1946, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Mitchell and Jennie (Sinkiewicz) Jankowski.
After graduating from Central Catholic High School, Mitchell proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning home, he demonstrated remarkable dedication and perseverance by earning his engineering degree through the night program at UMass Lowell. This achievement laid the foundation for a long and fulfilling career as a Manufacturing Engineer, where he applied his talents with dedication and pride at Raytheon, Gould/Modicon, and Schneider.
Mitchell was the proud father of five children, a role he cherished deeply throughout his life. His greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a constant and loving presence, never missing a milestone, a sporting event, or any opportunity to be part of their lives—always ready to share his own brand of life advice and take great happiness in all they achieved.
Mitchell found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved traveling to new places, embracing the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle, and could often be found sharing a laugh or a story over a cigar with friends and family. More than anything, he treasured the time spent surrounded by those he loved.
He is lovingly survived by his children, all of Methuen: Denise Leonard and her husband Jim; Michael Jankowski and his wife Cindy; Steve Jankowski and his wife Michelle; Tim Jankowski and his wife Genevre; and Lori Jankowski. He also leaves behind 14 cherished grandchildren—Shane, Nick, Samantha, Victoria, Isabella, Noah, Laura, Julia, Brooke, Abigail, Cameron, Alison, Zach, and Olivia—and six great-grandchildren. Mitchell is further survived by his sister-in-laws, Irene Cubelli and Donna Jankowski; his brother-in-law, Dan Abbott; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mitchell was predeceased by the love of his life, his devoted wife Patricia (Zappala) Jankowski, as well as his siblings Virginia, Patricia, and Tom Jankowski, his brothers-in-law Armand Cubelli, and Joe Zappala and his wife Beatrice, and his nephew Jesse Jankowski.
