Maurice A. "Mo" Pennisi, 83, son of the late Guy and Antoinette Pennisi, died on September 4th at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH after a long illness. Mo was born and raised in Lawrence, MA, and was a proud Laurencian and Italian-American. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, then earned an associate degree in electrical engineering from Franklin Tech, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics with a minor in physics from Suffolk University.

Being ambitious and an incredibly hard worker, Mo owned two businesses. The first was Advanced Absorber Products (AAP), which was in the aerospace industry. It gave Mo the opportunity to travel throughout the world where he was greeted with hospitality everywhere. He was enthusiastic to learn how people lived in different parts of the world. Germany was his favorite country to visit, though his preferred country for their food was definitely Italy. Still, he always said that the best cannoli came from Lawrence. He sold AAP after 10 years and worked for its parent company for another 5 years.

Mo's second business, a partnership with his boyhood friend, Carmen Grasso, was Sawtech, a metal cutting business. They worked together in harmony for 17 years, after which they sold the business and retired.

Mo enjoyed visiting Jensen Beach, Florida every winter and after retiring, going on Caribbean cruises. On one of these cruises Mo proudly won an Elvis contest. He and his wife Connie also looked forward to playing 45s every Friday night in Florida with Charlie and Joyce D'Agata. Mo loved to travel, and the vacation he enjoyed the most was a 6-week cross country trip he and Connie took with Carmen and Rita Grasso, with a side cruise to Alaska where he and Carmen went salmon fishing. Carmen graciously took on the role of guide and driver. One of Mo's most cherished memories on that trip was visiting the Grand Canyon, which left him in awe.

Mo enjoyed reading, mostly spy novels, science fiction, and history, and he loved watching Red Sox and Patriots games. Still, what Mo enjoyed doing most was helping people, something he did his whole life. It gave him great pleasure to assist people, and he considered his work as a means to accomplish that. He helped Connie with gardening and became her sous chef for their big holiday dinner parties, and he generously helped so many people who knew him.

Mo is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Connie, his in-laws Alice and Carl Piquado, his sister Cammy and brother in-law and friend Manny Shaheen, his sister Eleanor Pennisi, and his uncle, Sam Pennisi. He is survived by his son Mark and daughter Alice and son-in-law Johan, and his Irish daughter Julia Flynn, his beloved sister Mary Grace and brother-in-law Brad Stein, his brother-in-law John and sister-in-law Dorothy Piquado, sister-in-law Marie and brother-in-law Larry Novotney, sister-in-law Margaret and brother-in-law Keith Wagner. He is also survived by many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews, with whom he loved spending time.

The family would like to acknowledge the amazing care Mo received while living at Greystone, from so many staff people, in addition to the wonderful personnel who worked for Compassus Hospice Care. They truly helped make Greystone a loving home for Mo for his last four years. In addition, Dr. Vartan Yeghiazarians was truly a caring and compassionate physician who took care of Mo for many years.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 8th from 4-8 pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9th at 11am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH. He will be buried at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA. His funeral Service will be streamed through St. Matthew Catholic Church via YouTube on Saturday morning, beginning at 11am.
