Maryanne Saunders, a deeply loved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, with her devoted family by her side after a long illness. Born on January 1, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Maryanne was the youngest child of the late Manual and Ethel (Mello) Bettencourt. She grew up in Lowell, attending local schools and embodying the kindness and resilience that defined her life.

For 63 wonderful years, Maryanne was the beloved wife of John Saunders. Together, they built a life rooted in love, raising a family and creating countless cherished memories. Their home in Salem, New Hampshire, where they lived for 47 years, became a haven of warmth and hospitality.
Maryanne was a proud and loving mother to her four sons: Mark Saunders of Concord, NH; John Saunders of Salem, NH; and Craig Saunders and wife Olga of Salem, NH. Along with her most precious predeceased son, Christopher Saunders, whose memory she carried tenderly in her heart.

Maryanne's unwavering dedication to her family and her incredible strength and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was also predeceased by her sister, Beverley Keenan, and her brother Bernard Bettencourt who is survived by his wife Lorraine. Her enduring legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire her family, friends, numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, and all whose lives she touched.
