Obituary

Mary (August) Troiano, passed away peacefully at Warde Senior Living in Windham, NH on Sunday, November 19, 2024. Mary was born on March 19,1934 to the late John and Margaret (Reidy) August in Cambridge, MA.

Mary or "Chickie" as she was affectionately known to her family was one of thirteen children, 10 boys and 3 girls. She spent most of her childhood in Cambridge, MA as well as a short but humorous stint in rural Maine after which her family returned to the city where she graduated from Somerville High School.

Mary met the love of her life, Joe, by chance one summer day when he and some friends pulled over in his convertible to offer them a ride to the beach. Mary would never get in a car with strange boys but her friend Lillian assured her that she knew them and off they went. As it turned out, her friend had told a little white lie but the rest is history and the handsome young guy with the beautiful blue eyes eventually won her over!

Chickie and Joe shared 63 loving years of marriage together raising their five daughters in Stoneham, MA. Mary loved babies and being a mom and devoted her life to her family. She worked alongside her husband at his print shop in Stoneham, Ma. Mary also worked in the Stoneham Public Schools for many years as a teacher's aid and in the school Media Center. She then spent the final years of her career in administration at the Shady Hill School in Cambridge, MA.

Mary was a devout Catholic and was very active in her local parish, St Patrick's in Stoneham. She served as a member of the Parish Council, a Eucharistri Minister and her favorite- teaching CCD. She built her life upon her unwavering faith that sustained her in both happy and sad times.

Anyone who knew Mary also knew that the greatest happiness in her life was her family. Her love for them knew no bounds but dearest to her heart was her grandchildren. Her love and pride in them was beyond measure and each one of them will attest to the special bond she was able to create with each. No love was greater and all of us that shared in that love are blessed by it.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Troiano. Devoted daughter of the late John and Margaret (Reidy) August and sister of the late Edward, John, Joseph, Thomas, Gerald, Richard, James, David and Robert August, Margaret (August) Hayes, and Laura (August) Silva.

Mary leaves behind her five loving daughters, Pegi and her husband Steven Randall of Bedford, MA, Debra and her husband Richard Lanigan of Salem, NH, Jody and her husband Thomas MacNamaera of Hanover, MA, Cindy and her husband Paul Bencal of Londonderry, NH, Stacey and her husband Vincent Barrasso of Londonderry, NH
