Obituary

Mary Margaret (Sammon) Trainor, 82, formerly of Billerica, MA, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, serenaded by the echoes of the Boston Pops 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.
Born on June 15, 1942, in Boston, MA, to James J. and Catherine (O'Driscoll) Sammon, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James M. Sammon of Pembroke, and her infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Mary was a remarkable woman known for her sharp wit, indomitable spirit, and unwavering independence. Her blue eyes sparkled with intellect and kindness until her final days. She pursued knowledge avidly and demonstrated resilience throughout her life.
Professionally, Mary dedicated many years as a secretary at Arthur D. Little and later as a travel agent, reflecting her passion for exploration and discovery. She was a cherished member of the TOPS weight loss group, achieving the extraordinary milestone of losing over 100 pounds and earning a place in the esteemed KOPS circle.
Mary's life was enriched by a passion for literature, poetry, and the timeless melodies of classical music. She found deep fulfillment in exploring these artistic pursuits. Mary also had a profound love for movies and was always ready with a recommendation. Equally cherished were the moments spent sharing meals with family and friends, where conversations flowed and bonds grew stronger.
Mary will be dearly missed by her niece Laura Sammon-Bauchman and her spouse Mark Bauchman of Methuen, MA, nephews James L. Sammon and Daniel Sammon, both of Morris Plains, NJ and her niece Maureen Sammon and her spouse Lauren Wallace of Malden, MA. She also leaves behind two great-nieces, Amelia Raimondi and Abriana Sammon, and two great-nephews, James P. and Conor Sammon. Mary's affection also extended to several bonus nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Mary's memory and the impact she had on those closest to her.
