Mary M. "Miriam" (Murphy) O'Brien, 102, of longtime resident of Chester, NH, passed away at her home on September 30, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 19, 1919, in Somerville, MA, to the late Edward P. and Mary J. (Vickers) Murphy.

Miriam was presented with the Boston Post Cane on October 29, 2013, and as Chester's oldest resident she had continued to hold that position. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting frequently. She proudly raised five children, as well as ran the family farm with her late husband, Robert.

Miriam is survived by her children: Eileen Fontaine, and her husband Claud, of Greensboro, VT, Geraldine Chase, and her husband, Dana, of Webster, NH, Robert O'Brien and his wife, Janice of Fremont, NH, and Philip O'Brien, of Derry, NH; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Brian, Chad, and Raymond; as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 8:30-9:30 AM, at Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 10 AM, at St. Matthew's Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087.
