Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Linnemann, 76, a Windham, NH resident for over 47 years, passed away peacefully after a long journey with cancer on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. She was born on July 30, 1946, to the late Thomas A. Lyons, Jr. and Gayle (Leonard), in Quincy, MA. Mary Lou graduated from Northeastern University and Boston University schools of nursing.
She was a Registered Nurse at the Windham School District, for almost three decades. Before working at the school, she was a nurse for Beth Israel and New England Deaconess Hospitals in Boston and the Sisters of Mercy in Windham. Mary Lou was also a travel agent for America Travel. This allowed her to experience different parts of the world through travel with her beloved Fred, her family and friends. She was an avid reader and a member of "the not so serious" book club. With her many friends, she did philanthropic work including for St. Matthews and the Lazarus House. When she was younger, she was always active and loved to run and coached her girls' softball teams.
Mary Lou along with her late husband, of 43 years Frederick G. Linnemann, were members of St. Matthew's Parish in Windham.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Lisa Linnemann Courtney, of Rockport, MA, Kristina Linnemann, of Derry, NH, Heather A. Hankus, and her husband Frankie, of Derry, NH, and Heidi J. Stackpole and her husband Robert II, of Chester, NH.
Mary Lou was one of seven children. She is survived by Roy Lyons, and his partner Gayle, of Plymouth, MA, Thomas "Toby" Addis Lyons III, and his wife Fay, of Norfolk, MA, Eileen Hinchcliff, and her husband Mark, of Carbondale, CO, Joanne Tierney, of Dedham, MA, Danny Lyons, and his wife Jennifer, of Arlington, VA, and Rosemary "Posie" Joyce, and her partner Marc, of Plymouth, MA; her grandchildren: Reilly, Emma, Keaton, Luke, Quinn, Jameson, and Jackson; her brother in law: Richard Linnemann, and his wife Barbara, of Middletown, CT; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Mary Lou was blessed with the best of friends, who became family.
Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 4-7 PM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 10 AM, at St. Matthew's Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087. Internment will follow at Cemetery on the Plain, Windham, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Vesey Street, 28th Floor, New York, NY 10281 -OR- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
