Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Lang of Derry, NH, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry surrounded by her large family. She was 86 years old. She was born on July 22, 1939 to the late Richard Keene and Maria (Sanchez) Keene of Chelsea, MA. She was the middle of 9 children, and is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Brendan Lang of Derry, NH, and her three daughters, Susanne O'Leary of Reading, MA, Leanne Robbins of Saugus, MA, and Cynthia Walton of Derry, NH. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Daniel, Shane, Jamie, Michael, Vienna, and Verona, and three great-grandchildren, Jace, Avery, and Zara. She is also survived by her three sisters, who she referred to as "the best gift my parents ever gave me," Helen Cox, Margaret Griffin, and Claire Siegel. and one brother, Joseph Keene. She also has many nieces and nephews and was pre-deceased by four brothers, and one great-grandchild.

Mary was born in Boston, raised in Chelsea, MA, and lived in Malden, MA for most of her adult life before moving to Derry, NH in 2005. She was a graduate of Cathedral High of Boston before working in Boston at John Hancock as an executive secretary. She devoted her time to two activities throughout her life, her preaching work as a Jehovah's Witness, and her family. She was devoted to her ministry, which she participated in full-time for the majority of her adult life. Mary was deeply in love with her husband of 54 years, and would often be seen laughing at his jokes or telling people how handsome he is. She was always taking care of her grandchildren and children and enjoyed hearing about every detail of their life. A cup of tea was never far away from Mary, and it was a passion that she eagerly shared with others. To ensure her legacy lived on, she started her grandchildren with tea in their sippy cups. To be sure, every cup of tea we drink started with her, and will forever remind us of her ability to love loudly and unreservedly.

Mary will be remembered for her deep love of God, her enduring love for her family, her enjoyment of loud music, her great dancing, and her driving.
