Marjorie Norma Smith, 91, of Greenville, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in her home and while surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on September 26, 1934, in Peabody, MA, to the late Manual and Palmira (Serpa) Souza

She was a longtime resident of Salem, New Hampshire.

Throughout her years as a crossing guard, she crossed many children at the Red Barn intersection.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Deborah Smith and her partner Ralph Leeds, daughter Lori Wallace, sister Judy Souza, grandson Chris Wallace and spouse Mindy Wallace, grandson Jacob Smith and partner Zach Tanner, and great granddaughter Teagan Wallace.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie is predeceased by her husband of 26 years Leonard Smith and her sister Doris Marsh.

In honoring her wishes, Marjorie will return home to New England, to be laid to rest with her husband. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 4-7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. Burial will take place at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 93 E Broadway, Salem, NH 03079.
