Marie (Ouellette) Matseas, resident of Rockingham Rehabilitation, Brentwood, NH and former longtime resident of Windham, NH died peacefully on April 28, 2024 at the age of 93 after a long battle with dementia.
Marie was born in Lawrence, MA. She, along with her sister Marguerite (Ouellette) Kralovic were raised by the sisters at St. Anne Orphanage in Methuen, MA. Marie resided in Methuen, MA for many years while raising her family. She worked at Western Electric in North Andover for several years, and then at Lawrence General Hospital as a Unit Clerk for many of her working years, retiring in 1992.
Marie had a joyful heart, full of compassion and generosity. She was always helping others, and had a kind word for everyone she knew. She was very creative, and you could often find Marie on her sewing machine, or creating a beautiful quilt. Her door was always open for friends to stop by for a cup of coffee and conversation. She loved cooking Pita at holidays or her pineapple upside down cake. Rooted in her faith, Marie extended grace and kindness to all who crossed her path, always making friends wherever she went.
Marie was married to George Matseas who predeceased her in 2010. Marie was predeceased by her sister Marguerite (Ouellette) Kralovic in December 2020. Marie is survived by her sons James Matseas and wife Carol of Jefferson Georgia, William Matseas and wife Judith of Greenland NH, and daughter Sandra (Matseas) Martineau of Londonderry NH. Marie had five grandchildren Jennifer (Matseas) Delisle of Bedford NH., Kristin (Matseas) Abood of Londonderry NH., Scott Matseas of Bedford NH., Michelle (Martineau) Regan of Derry NH. and Kathy Martineau of Candia NH. Marie also had ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 7, from 9:00-10:30am at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham NH. Burial will immediately follow 11am at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.
