Manuel Duarte Ferreira, 85, of Hampstead, NH, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 1, 1938, on Terceira Island, in Azores, Portugal, to the late Manuel Alves Ferreira and Maria Da Conceicao Duarte.

Manuel was a simple man. Growing up in Portugal, he was a farmer looking for a better life. After marrying his late wife of 50 years, Mary Hilda (Costa), they moved to the United States. It was here that Manuel worked as a factory worker for Borden Chemical for 30 years, before working at Home Foods, where he retired.

In his free time, Manuel enjoyed gardening in his yard, and was an accomplished landscaper. However, Manuel's true joy in life was spending time with his family.

Manuel is survived by his daughter: Darlene Michelle Kelleher, and her husband Jason, of Hampstead, NH; his sister Maria De Lourdes Duarte Ferreira; his brother in laws: Manuel Costa, and his wife Nelia, and John Costa, and his wife Filomena; his sister in law: Adosinda Costa; and his multiple nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Manuel is predeceased by his brother in law, Francisco Goncalves Diniz.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11 AM, at St. Anne's Parish, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH 03841.
