Obituary

Lynne Barnes Silva passed away on October 29th, 2023, after a long illness.

Lynne was born on December 24th, 1956, to Arthur E. Barnes Jr. and Gretarose Barnes.

Lynne was born with heart problems and was one of the first babies to successfully have open heart surgery at Boston Children's Floating Hospital.

Lynne was a lifelong resident of Salem, NH and graduated from Salem High School in 1974. She attended Northern Essex Community College and graduated with her Associates Degree in Business. She later continued her education, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from New Hampshire College. Lynne then worked for Amitech in Material Logistics.

Lynne was a lifelong member of Pleasant Street United Methodist Church in Salem. There she held the position of treasurer for many years. Lynne was also a regular volunteer at the church's food pantry, "Food for the Hungry," and held the position of treasurer on their board as well. Lynne also served in the church choir.

Lynne married Richard Silva on August 8. 1998. They enjoyed traveling the country, spending time with family, and eventually started a company together. Rick was a gifted carpenter and Lynne was talented with sewing. Together they made caskets and urns.

Lynne and Rick also enjoyed volunteering for the Salem High School marching band. The pair got involved while their niece and nephew were members in 2009. They would volunteer to help make and sell food for different events, load instruments in the truck, and cheer in the crowd. Lynne and Rick then progressed to driving the truck filled with instruments to football games, parades, competitions, and across the country while cheering for each new generation that joined the band.

Lynne is survived by her husband Rick, their children, daughter Pam Russell of Lewiston, Maine and her husband Scott, son Rick Silva of Salem, New Hampshire; her brother Arthur E Barnes III and his wife Janice of Salem, New Hampshire; her sister Wayne Miller and husband Gary of Salem, New Hampshire; her brother Richard Barnes and his partner Jane of Sims, North Carolina; as well as her six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Lynne's honor to the "Food for the Hungry" Pantry and the Parents Music Club at Salem High School.
