Luz M. Alvarez, 75, of Dorchester, MA, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 28th, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born on October 22, 1950, in Arenal Yoro, Honduras, to Bertha Turcios and Miguel Munguia. When Luz was just a teenager, her mother passed away, and Luz stepped in as the caregiver and mother-figure to her five younger siblings. This selfless nature continued throughout the rest of her life, as she later raised for her three children, and helped to care for many others in the family.

Luz moved to the United States forty years ago and made in possible to many of her family members to join her. a point to always be neat and tidy, both in her home and in the way she presented herself. She loved going shopping at her favorite store Marshalls and adding to her collection of watches, purses, and shoes. Luz also enjoyed time spent tending to her garden and watching butterflies.

She is survived by her loving children, Elvis Turcios and his wife Nancy of Woodhaven, NY, Marvin Munguia of East Hampstead, and Margorie Kelly and her husband Jorge Salas of East Hampstead; her grandchildren, Susan, Angelica, David, Jose, Rafaelina, Soley, Idris; her great-grandchildren, Elena, Elise, Emily, Allison, and Baby Jayce; her siblings, Rina, Carmen, Esperanza, Jose, Rueben, Iris, Lenny, and Nulfo; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Luz was predeceased by her husband, Emilio Carlos Alvarez.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, from 10am to 1pm, with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. Burial will take place on Monday morning, at 10am at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead.
