Kerstin Birgitta Scarpa, 81, of Atkinson, NH, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA, with her beloved family by her side. She was born on June 7, 1943, in Halmstad, Sweden, to the late Enock and Elsa (Ljunglöf) Larsson.

Kerstin spent her younger years working abroad in various roles which included nannying in Florida and working at the World's Fair in New York. She learned the art of needlepoint from her mother and enjoyed making intricate tapestries.

Kerstin met her husband, Arthur "Art" Scarpa, while the two were working together in Sweden, in 1967. They had an instant connection and started their family two years later, choosing to raise their family in Sweden until moving to the United States in 1977.

Kerstin and Art enjoyed traveling the world as a couple and later with their children. From Scandinavia, Europe, Italy, Majorca, Australia, and the USA, there was always an adventure. She was ever the supportive mother, who cared deeply for her children's interests and made sure never to miss a game or event that was important to them. Kerstin was a dedicated accountant and enjoyed her work. She was an excellent cook and baker. An animal lover at heart, the home always had cats. Their dog Lotta, and later Buddy and Linus were an important part of her family. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking their favorite meals and treats and taking them out for adventures.

In addition to her beloved husband, Arthur, Kerstin is survived by her children, Kristina Scarpa and her partner Neil Hamel, and Peter Scarpa and his partner Jes Bateman; her grandchildren, Cameron Scarpa, Alex Hartnett, and Jordan Hartnett; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews both in the United States and back home in Sweden.

She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Per-Arne and Nils Larsson.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital , to a humane animal shelter of your choice, or Home At Last Farm Mini Horse & Donkey Rescue.
