Obituary

Kathy Ann Huard was born on June 23, 1949 to the late Lester and May Rysnik of Hillsboro NH. She passed peacefully on March 4, 2024 surrounded by her family.

She left home in 1967 to study Education and at a chance meeting at Keene State College she met her husband of 53 years, Paul Huard. He famously shares he saw her across the room in a yellow dress and had to meet her. Her singing talents were recognized early as she was asked to sing in the USO tour in early 1970, months before her wedding on November 28, 1970.

After graduating she moved to Salem NH in 1972, and she began her career as an elementary school teacher in Hudson NH, then Windham NH, and finally at North Salem Elementary in Salem NH until her retirement. She loved to read, go camping with her family and spend time with friends.

She will be remembered for her beautiful voice that could be heard for over 20 years at St. Joseph's Parish mass every Sunday along with the many weddings she performed at, including her daughters. Her favorite Christmas song was O' Holy Night which she performed at church every Christmas Eve.

When asked what she wanted to be remembered for she said "I want others to remember me as being thoughtful and kind"- a trait exemplified by her love of giving gifts and she had the uncanny ability to recognize family and friends' birthdays and anniversaries- she prided herself in sending cards and remembering others.

She is survived by her husband Paul, her daughters and their families: Rebecca and Rick Sousa of Millbury MA, and Amy and Jason Dailey of Salem NH. She is the proud Mia to 4 grandchildren- Isabel Sousa, Jack Dailey, Nate Sousa and Michaela Dailey. She is sister to John Rysnik and Nancy Ohringer along with being an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of All American in Londonderry NH along with Brookhaven Hospice for their care and support of our family over the past months.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 13th at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Dollars for Scholars in her memory- it was her wish to create a high school scholarship for future educators graduating from Salem High School. Please mail to: Salem Dollars for Scholars, PO box 297, Salem NH 03079
