Joseph (Joey) Keane, 62,  passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with 3 separate types of cancer starting in 2009 while he continued to work through most treatments. He was born to Richard J. and Barbara E. (Goujon) Keane, in 1961 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was raised and educated in South Lawrence, graduating from GLVTHS class of 1979.

After HS Joey worked as an Electrical Apprentice, Bartender at the Calumet and LGH as a Security Guard. Joe will be remembered for his hardworking and strong work ethics. He worked ten years at Malden Mills and later was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 3 for many years before retiring due to his illness. He owned a successful Tiling Business employing union bricklayers as well. He was always lending a hand to  family and friends with his Electrical, Tiling and Trade Skills.

Joey is survived by his mother: Barbara Keane, of Salem, NH; his siblings: Dicky Keane Jr., of Weeki Wachee, FL, Deborah Higginbottom, and her husband Joseph, of Windham, NH, and Karen Fosman, and her husband Kevin, of Salem, NH; his nieces and nephews: K.C., Ashley, Keanen, Jack, and great nephew Crew;  Many, many aunts, uncles and cousins as well.

He has many special lifelong friends from 45's and poker games starting at a young age at the Beacon Courts. He also enjoyed golfing starting as a caddie at Andover CC, threw a fierce knuckle ball for the Yankees SLWLL. Loved going with friends on the British Club annual trips and  enjoyed Rockingham Race Track  and later Encore with Family and Friends.

Joe never complained about the cancer pain and fought a long hard fight. He was a Christian and knew he was going home pain free to be with Jesus, his dad and auntie Clara among others to greet him.

Thank you for all who shared this  journey with Joey and his family.  Please understand his wishes were to keep his memorial service private. It takes a village and if you're reading this your part of our families tribe.
