Joseph M.
Carreiro, Sr.
Feb 26, 1949 — Oct 30, 2024
Bedford
Joseph "Joe" Manuel Carreiro, Sr, 75, of Bedford, formerly of Atkinson, New Hampshire, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Joe was born on February 26, 1949, in San Miguel, Azores, to Lilia (Tavares) and Manuel Carreiro. In 1951, his family immigrated to the United States. He was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Cambridge Latin High School. After high school, Joe enlisted and served in the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam, before returning home.
He spent most of his adult life working as a Warehouseman for Lechmere Sales and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 25, for more than twenty-seven years. Following the company's closure, he transitioned into work as a service writer for the Grava Motor Family of dealerships in Medford Massachusetts, from which he retired.
Joe was not a man of passions or hobbies. His personal preference was to spend time with his family, making many a sacrifice to spend what free time he had with his immediate and extended family, continuing the traditions instilled in him from his youth, when he spent almost every weekend with his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joe is survived by his wife, Anne (Ross) of Bedford, NH; his children, Joe Carreiro Jr. and his wife Diane of Salem, NH, Cheryl Bernardo of Boxborough, MA; Sarah Reason and her husband Matt of Charlestown, MA; his grandchildren, Dylan, Mollie, Lucas, Lily, Isabel, Lilah, and Nash, all of whom made him the happiest "Vou" ever; his sister, Lucy Wilkerson and her husband David; as well as his many beloved sisters and brothers in laws, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved, and whose love in return brought him great comfort and joy over his seventy five years.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Carreiro (Rodrique); and his son, Jason Zaki.
