John Francis Mitchell, 74, of Marlborough, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA.

Born on March 23, 1952, to Genevieve (Nowobielski) and Stanley Mitchell, John grew up in Beaverdale, PA, and attended local schools. He earned his degree in engineering and went on to spend twenty years at Digital Equipment Corporation.

John was happiest outdoors, and happiest of all with a fishing rod in his hands. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by family, and he kept a special place in his heart for his "bonus dogs," Mocha and Marley.

He is survived by his son Justin Mitchell and his wife Andrea, of Windham, NH, and their sons, Aiden and Brayden; his son Garret Mitchell and his significant other Christy, of Marlborough, MA, and her daughter Cecily Moran; his brother, Mark Mitchell; and his former wife and dear friend, Claudette Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his former parents-in-law, Robert and Lorraine Comas, with whom he shared a close bond.

Honoring John's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
