John Robin Fontaine, 68, passed unexpectedly on June 11th, 2024.

He was born on February 27, 1956, to Mary (Hurley) and Rene Fontaine. John was raised in Salem, Massachusetts and graduated from Salem High School. He furthered his education by taking classes at North Shore Community College. John went on to have a 35+ year career in the general mail facility with the United States Postal Service located in North Reading.

John enjoyed ice skating, rollerblading, and bowling. He loved playing basketball, baseball, tossing frisbees, and other sports with his two children, Justin and Jasmine. He would also spend time doing sports with his stepchildren, Tyson and Zachary. John loved going to Hampton Beach in the summer. He would always go in the early morning and enjoyed getting fried dough on the beach. Above all, John was a dog lover. His childhood dog in Salem, MA was named Chippy. When he bought his first house in Lynn, MA, he had a German Shepard named Heidi.

John and Heidi often took walks together on the beach on the Swampscott/Lynn line. In 2006, he adopted a beagle-terrier mix named Roxy. John was a jokester at heart. He would always be cracking jokes and coming up with memorable lines that will live down for generations.

He is survived by his two children, Justin and Jasmine; his former wife, Linda Ruiz; his older brother, Jay Fontaine & his husband Ray Gottwald; and his younger sister, Jane Fontaine & her husband Richard Bryson.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 28th from 4 to 6 pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windam, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 6pm at the funeral home.
