John "Jack" F. Ward, 73, passed away on Thursday evening, February 23 ^rd , 2023 surrounded by family.

Jack was born on May 7, 1949, to Alice (Cosgrove) and John Ward. He was raised in Boston and attended local schools. He went on to spend his career working in Boston, spending many years working as an Electrician for the Local 103 IBEW, and eventually retiring from the MBTA.

Jack was lovingly referred to as "Big or "Mr. Big" by most that knew him. He was an avid lover of the Boston Sports Teams, especially the Bruins. In the earlier years, Jack enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams, hockey, baseball, softball and even basketball. Jack played for the Windham Softball League for many years where he met so many friends and was able to play softball with his sons. He was a member of the Salem-Derry Elks where he enjoyed having a beer with a friend, playing pool or a game of poker. Jack also loved his trips to Aruba each year with his wife, where he would enjoy the sunshine, some good food and some Caribbean Stud. Jack was always available to chauffeur his grandchildren or share a story and a pinwheel.  Jack was a simple man.  Surrounded by his family on Meetinghouse Road, he didn't need much more than that to make him happy. The B's, Pats, Sox, his cabana and when asked how he was he would likely respond with "slow, but sure"

Jack is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Phyllis (Steele) Ward; his children, Jim Ward and his wife Jody, Joe Ward, and Kristen Murray and her husband Keith, all of Windham; his grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Emerson, Connor, Parker, and Ellana; his brother, Robert Ward and his wife Maryanne; his brother in law Joseph Steele and wife Christine, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his son, Johnny Ward, we are sure that he has reunited with Johnny and they are listening to Billy Joel together.

Services will be held at the Carrier Funeral home on Saturday March 4, 2023, visiting hours from 11 to 12:30 with a service at 12:30. Burial will be held at a later date.
